This week our offices have been abuzz with talk about the just-released Gone Girl film trailer. Directed by David Fincher with a screenplay written by Gillian Flynn, including a new ending, it is one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the year. Gone Girl is due to be released on 3 October and if you’ve yet to see it, you can watch the trailer right here.
Here’s what we thought about it:
‘This trailer is everything I hoped it would be – very dark, menacing and ambiguous. It really looks as though Gillian and David Fincher have produced a film worthy of this brilliant novel, and Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck are clearly perfect in their roles. I’m so excited – I can’t wait to see the movie in October!’ – Rebecca Gray, Publicity Manager
‘Any doubts I had about the casting have been blown out of the water by the trailer. Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck are perfect as Amy and Nick. And it’s clear that David Fincher and Gillian Flynn are a match made in heaven (actually, probably not heaven, but you know what I mean). I was already excited about the film – now I can’t wait!’ – Paul Murphy, Senior Editor
‘Wow! So excited about the film now. Amy is exactly as I pictured her, and Fincher’s ability to make dark situations somehow even darker comes across so well. And the last shot is so intriguing – I’m desperate to know the new ending!’ – Hannah Atkinson, Social Media Executive
‘I was absolutely hooked by the trailer – everything from the deliciously off-kilter soundtrack to the spot-on casting announced that this film is a must-watch for fans of the book and for everyone who still has that pleasure in store’ – Sophie Buchan, Commissioning Editor
